[22 Jan 2007] Liza in Beijing

Translated by Jamie @ http://zazafied.blogspot.com

Yesterday, famous HK artist, Liza Wang, appeared in the "Artist's Life" program as a guest. Liza also invited her partner of 18 years, Mr Law, to participate in the program together. Throughout the interview, the lovebirds answered all questions happily.

Nic Tse: Should be fair to Mr Law

Liza appeared with a white-feathered shawl wrapped around her shoulders. Although Liza will be turning 60 this year, but she is still as energetic as before. Liza discussed her 40-year-showbiz memories with the host of Artist's Life. CCTV has been preparing for Liza's interview for a few years. They even sent out a crew to HK to get the HK artists' wishes toward the "Big Sister" of the HK entertainment industry. The list of artists include Andy Lau, Alan Tam, Nicholas Tse plus a whole lot of other HK artists. Nicholas Tse's interview is the most interesting of all. This is because Nicholas Tse's sister is Liza's goddaughter, hence, his relationship with Liza is rather special. (actually Nicholas addresses Liza as his godmother although they didn't go through the proper ceremony like Jeniffer Tse). Nicholas expressed his deepest feelings in his pre-recorded clip, "I am a newly wedded man. I realized that life needs to be fair after tying the knot. Therefore, Liza should be fair towards Mr Law, she shouldn't make him wait for too long."

Liza: I'm afraid that I cannot manage to "Share our lives"

Seated in the audience, Mr good-looking-baldy, Mr Law, attracted a lot of attention. He is the man that has spent 18 years of his life as lovebirds with Liza. (Why don't the both of you set up a home of your own?) Liza replied, "Because of our age, and also because we have been single for a long time. He has never been married while I have been divorced for a long time. Sharing our lives is a very difficult thing to do. I am afraid that I might not be able to do it. Furthermore, I wouldn't want him to go through all the trouble to adapt his lifestyle towards mine. I don't think there's a need for that. Forcing two people to be in a same house together is also something that we don't wish for. Kar Ying also agreed with Liza's point. Mr Law also revealed that he has learnt to "argue" with Liza. Mr Law, "With my other girlfriend in the past, we have never argued, but in the 18 years I spent with Liza, we always argue. She would express her points while I express mine. The discussion does not damage our relationship as we would be okay after putting forward out points. In the past, I would bury my feelings in my heart and I would feel really stressed about it. Therefore I decided to learn from Liza and start arguing.

Mr Law: Both of us suffered from the same illness

Everyone in the audience felt rather down when Mr Law said, "Both of us suffered from the same illness." Yes, Mr Law and Liza both suffered from Cancer. When it comes to cancer, Liza and Mr Law are definitely a couple that has gone through a lot. In the past, Liza suffered from thyroid cancer. Not long after recovering from the thyroid cancer, Liza discovered a tumor in one of her breasts. However, with Liza's positive attitude towards her illness, she managed to recover. As for Mr Law, he was diagnosed with 3rd stage Liver Cancer at the end of 2004. However, he didn't appear to be a man who almost lost his life to cancer. Liza said, "I am a very obedient patient. I trust my doctors with my heart. One must be positive when he discovers the illness. Don't give up. Personal effort is extremely important. Mr Law is also a positive person. Mr Law said to Liza, "In the past, I don't know what I want, I also don't know what is happiness. Now, I know. I must keep myself healthy. Previously, I gave up my feelings towards my family members. Now the feelings are back."

Liza had her first concert in China

Although Liza has held numerous concerts in Hong Kong, but she has yet to hold any in Mainland China. Liza performed a few songs on the set of "Artist's Life". Liza joked that this would be her first concert in China. With loud cheers and applause from the audience accompanying Liza, Liza performed her famous song "Love and Passion"《万水千山总是情》 and also her favourite song "My home county" 《我的祖国》. Famous pianist, Liu Shi Kun, who has never agreed to accompany anyone's performance with his piano also agreed to accompany Liza while he played on the piano. Mr Law also performed a section of the famous "Princess Chang Ping" with Liza. The performance of this pair of lovers definitely touched the hearts of millions. Surely, they have won the well-wishes of everyone.

awwwwwwwwwwww.... i'm so touched!!!!!!! i want to cry right now. Mr Law said to Liza, "In the past, I don't know what I want, I also don't know what is happiness. Now, I know. Okay, this is the BEST thing Mr Law ever said to Liza. I wonder if this is what made her tear!!!!!!!!!!!!!! god. my eyes are tearing right now. definitely a Liza+Mr Law fanatic now. hahaha.

Jan 10, 2007 Liza Fan Club 29 Anni Celebrations

Translated by Jamie @ http://zazafied.blogspot.com
source: various HK newspapers

Liza Wang attended her Official Fan Club's 29th Anniversary. One of the kids even had the golden opportunity to give Liza a kiss, confirming Liza's attractiveness.

2007 would be Liza's 40th year in the Entertainment Industry. She would be holding concerts in September but her asia tour is scheduled to begin tomorrow. Liza would be holding 3 concerts in HK but if ticket sales are ideal she would consider to hold additional concerts. However, guests and themes are not confirmed yet. The concerts would be looked upon a celebration for her 40th year in showbiz.

(Anything new you would like to try out?) Most importantly, I would be to relive the 40 years. I have a lot of things on my mind that I would like to share. I would probably split it into a few parts. Singing oldies would be a must. Actually I have thought of retiring, but the Entertainment World is too happening and interesting, for example: new styles of acting. Therefore, I abandoned the thought.

Liza hopes that she would be healthy in the new year. She also hopes that her career would continue to be smooth.

FYI: the lady in red (far right) is the oldest Liza fan that attended the celebration (there's bound to be older fans i bet!) she's 76 this year. during the scoop interview, she said that she thinks Liza's really pretty and that she likes everything about Liza. After seeing Liza, all her illnesses would disappear.

Jan 9, 2007 On the Road Part II

Translated by Jamie @ http://zazafied.blogspot.com

TVB's On the Road Part II would include a segment about Liza's trip to Japan to learn the Japanese "Noh Plays" and also the traditional Japanese dance.

When Liza first joined the entertainment industry, she had been to Kyoto, Japan to study the "Noh Play". Liza appeared to be really excited about it, "I'm really happy about it, as the Japanese Play is rather similar to the Chinese Opera. Therefore, I'm really eager to further my studies in the Japanese Noh Plays. (Would you be learning the traditional Japanese dance as well?) I would only be able to reveal further details after the meeting with the producers.

Jan 5, 2007 Liza&Mr Law: No Wedding Bells in Japan

Translated by Jamie @ http://zazafied.blogspot.com
source: Various HK newspapers.

Mr Law said that Zaza and himself would be touring Japan again this Chinese New Year. However, Mr Law added that he would not be proposing again this time.

Liza and Mr Law were guest performers for the Chinese Opera Gala that was held in Central HK. Liza also performed a scene from "Princess Chang Ping" with the current Director Wong Chi Hou. During the performance, Liza was filled with emotions, and at some point, Liza's eyes were filled with tears.

When asked why she had tears in her eyes, Liza said that she has always been very serious towards her profession. She also said that Director Wong had trouble with his performance. Liza added that it's not such a big a deal and that it's understandable as Director Wong is a businessman rather than a Chinese Opera Performer. Liza stressed that Director Wong's performance is rather good considering that he is not a professional.

Liza also revealed that she would be heading to Genting Malaysia on the 12th to hold a concert at the Arena of Stars on the 13th of Jan. Liza added that Mr Law would be her guest performer. (Would Mr Law charge less for being your guest performer?) Liza said: "Nope, he charges more than the others." Liza also mentioned that she recently taught Mr Law to sing "Wong Mui Tiu" and she hopes that they would be able to perform a "Wong Mui Tiu" duet at the concert. Liza praises Mr Law for having such in-born talent. Liza said that Mr Law would be accompanying one of her performance using his er-hu.

Mr Law added that Liza and himself would be heading to Hokkaido, Japan for a Chinese New Year holiday. During their last trip to Hokkaido, there were rumours saying that Mr Law would propose under the shades of the sakura trees. (Would you propose this time?) Mr Law immediately appeared to be rather restless and that the reporters are always asking the same question. (Why are you avoiding the question? Are you afraid that you might get Ah Jie angry?) Mr Law said: "No." Mr Law also added that Liza and himself are always at loggerheads but he would always let Liza win.
